FOG Hoppers Finswimming

The finsimming branch is the second longest running branch in the FOG Hoppers (after swimming, which started in 1986). It was officially started in 1992 and was instrumental in the renaissance of the sport in 1998. However, the club didn't formally compete in a national championships until 2001. The branch holds a huge number of British Records in finswimming, many British Championships and several Commonwealth records.

FOG Hoppers going to the 2011 BFA National Championships!

Alaric Smith and Cassandra Hainsworth Graikowski will be representing the club at this year's BFA National Championships. The event will be held on 2nd April. Hopefully more of the club's finswimmers will be turning up too.

Alaric will be racing in four individual event (50 m and 100 m Surface, 50 m Apnea and 100 m Immersion). He is currently the British Champion in all of these events and holds the British Records for 100 m Surface, 50 m Apnea and 100 m Immersion. Cassandra will be racing in the 50 and 100 m Surface and 50 m Apnea. She holds almost all of the British Records for surface events.

Congratulations to Cassandra!

FOG Hoppers team member, Cassandra Graikowski Hainsworth represented Great Britain at the Eleventh World Junior Finswimming Championships in Palma, Mallorca, Spain. She set a new British Record for the 400 m Surface.

She competed in three events (100 m and 400 m Surface and the 50 m Apnea). All of her times were within a second of her existing British Records but her 400 m time was considerably faster than her own record for that distance.
